What
To Expect the first Two Visits?
Your First
Visit
It
is recommended that you arrive at the office fifteen minutes
before your appointment time to complete the necessary
paperwork.
On
the first visit we will help you identify the cause of your
problems. A detailed history will be taken that will include
your health history, lifestyle, recreational and work related
physical activities.
Your long term health
history is as important to us as the details of your presenting
complaint. Both are critical in assisting the doctor with
determining a diagnosis. For this reason, the doctor will review
your completed health history forms and may ask other clinically
relevant questions about your case during your thorough initial
consultation. This will be followed by a complete orthopaedic,
neurological and chiropractic examination as indicated by your
consultation. Other diagnostic tools, such as X-rays, may be incorporated into the
exam if the doctor feels it will provide you with a more
accurate diagnosis.
Provided that we can help
you and you consent to our recommendations, your chiropractic
care will commence when the results of your tests become
available. Expect to spend about 1 hour in the clinic.

Your Second
Visit
On
the second visit, which is usually the day following your first
visit, you will receive a Report of Findings from your examination. (For acute cases this can
be done on the same day as the initial visit).
The doctor will discuss
the exam findings with you and outline your recommended program
of care based on your health care goals. This is a great time to
ask questions and actively become involved in your recovery. The
better you understand your problem, the faster you will recover.
We
will then tell you the amount of improvement you can expect in
your condition, as well as how long it will likely take to
achieve meaningful results. You will be given an individualized
treatment schedule and a re-exam date where we can determine
your progress.
Once your Report of
Findings is complete, you will then begin your care. Your
appointments will then be scheduled in advance. (Your Report of
Findings is generally 20 minutes long). Each visit (adjustment)
after your Report of Findings is only roughly 3-5 minutes long.
While it is necessary to
follow your program of care to get the maximum results, we feel
that your visits to our office should not interfere with your
daily lives. That is why our office is highly efficient, and
waiting times for your adjustments are kept to a minimum.

Your Regular
Office Visit
The primary treatment is
the chiropractic adjustment. An adjustment is a gentle, specific
force applied to a specific joint. Patients are often pleasantly
surprised at how comfortable this procedure is. If your progress
is as expected and your case remains uncomplicated by new
injuries or symptoms, expect to spend 5-10 minutes in the
office.

Progress
Analysis
Your doctor needs to
assess how successful your treatment program has been. Periodic
re-testing incorporating only the essential tests for your
particular case will be conducted. Further recommendations will
be made by your doctor based on the exam findings. A treatment
will follow the testing procedures.

How To Get The
Most Benefit From Your Program Of Care
Above all, we want you to
know what we know about your current level of health, so that
you are empowered enough to make decisions regarding your most
valuable possession, your body. Chiropractic care is a unique
proactive approach to health! To fully benefit from chiropractic
care, you need to understand your condition, why it is present
and what impact this might have on your long-term health. Our
clinical team excels at providing important information to you
in an understandable fashion. Everything, from the very first
test done at the time of your initial examination through to
your various treatment options are fully explained in advanced.
There are no surprises and no procedures are done without your
full consent.
New patients must meet
stringent criteria and pass a battery of tests before they are
accepted into our clinic for care. This helps us to ensure that
we can meet or exceed new patient expectations. If after a
thorough examination, our clinical team believes that we cannot
help you reach your health care goals, we will refer you to an
appropriate health care professional.
Patients within our office
who continue to meet or exceed our clinical expectations share
similar traits which often include:
-
Expressing
their personal health care goals
-
Possessing
a desire to learn about their condition and how their body
functions
-
Committing
to a mutually agreed upon program of care thereby insuring
that they receive an adequate amount of treatment to reach
their goals
-
Expecting
positive results
-
Staying
optimistic

TREATMENT
PROGRAM OPTIONS
The program of care best
suited for you is dependant upon your goals and the lifestyle
choices you make outside our office. In general, our programs
include initial intensive care, corrective care, and wellness
care.
Initial
Intensive/Relief Care
is
provided for acute pain and discomfort.
This is usually where most patients begin their
chiropractic care. Visits can be frequent, depending on the
severity of your condition. The primary focus is to reduce or
eliminate your most obvious symptoms.
Corrective
Care
treats
long term spinal problems. Because they have existed for some
time they require a longer period of care, similar to crooked
teeth slowly improving with braces. This is the most important
part of chiropractic care and should definitely be considered in
order to obtain the maximum benefit for your health both now and
for the future. With
your symptoms diminished, the objective is to stabilize spinal
functions and promote more complete healing thereby protecting
against imminent relapse. Muscles and soft tissue of the spine
are strengthened during this stage of care as your spine
corrects to an optimal state.
Wellness/Maintenance
Care
helps you
retain the benefits you've achieved from the relief and
corrective care. With
the maximal restoration of spinal function many patients enjoy
regular chiropractic “checkups.” Continuing
to work with your chiropractor and having periodic adjustments
will keep you as healthy as you can be in your particular
lifestyle. This type of wellness care can save time and
money by helping little problems from becoming serious.
Chiropractic
visits, exercise and a sensible diet will help you enjoy the
best of health well into the future.

BUT DOCTOR I
DON’T FEEL SICK
Remember that visit to the
dentist where the doctor poked at your tooth causing a pain that
you had never experienced before? The fact is almost every
medical condition known has a pre-symptomatic phase. Yes even
cavities! Due to the nature of how your body operates, tissue
damage must accumulate and cross a threshold before symptoms
develop.
At our office we see
proactive (80%) and reactive (20%) patients. Proactive patients
seek care to maintain optimal health and are often symptom free
when they schedule appointments. Proactive patients believe an
ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Reactive patients
wait until symptoms develop before seeking any sort of
assistance. Proactive or reactive? Your body, your choice. Both
are welcome at our clinic! While dentists can replace your
teeth, no doctor can replace your spine. Look after yourself,
you deserve it!

If
I see a chiropractor, do I have to keep going?
That choice is yours. Some injuries respond quickly to minimal
care, and may benefit from occasional check-ups thereafter.
Others have deeper roots and require more attention to produce
long lasting improvement. There is difference between providing
you with shorter term relief, and giving you the attention and
information you need to keep your injuries from returning or
getting worse. After a thorough assessment, your chiropractor
will review with you the options of care and set up a program of
care that fits your needs and priorities.
