Made Orthotics
Your feet are
as unique as you are.
The
feet are extremely complex structures composed of bones, joints,
ligaments, muscles, tendons, nerves, blood vessels, and skin.
They may develop certain disorders, some of which originate in
other parts of the body. They are also subject to injuries and
other problems caused by normal wear and tear over years of
supporting the weight of your body and making it possible for
you to stand, walk, run, and jump.
What
do backaches, sore knees and hip problems have to do with the
feet? A lot. The feet are the body's contact points with the
ground, so how they support the rest of the body is critical.
Foot pain and dysfunction caused by illness or injury can force
you to modify your gait (the way you walk) and create
significant stresses on the joints of your legs, hips, and lower
spine. Your feet are the foundation for your entire body. When
they suffer from pain, misalignments, malformations, and
malfunctions, your whole body is placed in jeopardy. Even
without pain, foot dysfunction can cause your whole body to
overcompensate, which can lead to back pain and even headache,
not to mention the emotional stress of discomfort and
limitations on movement that can spread from the feet upward.
Custom-made
orthotics are prescribed on an individual basis.
Who
Needs Orthotics?
Even if your feet don't hurt, they may be a major factor
contributing to your health problems. A foot problem may be the
cause of discomfort or pain in your legs, knees, hips, back,
shoulders, or even your neck!

problems.
Custom-made,
flexible foot orthotics are scientifically designed for the
individual's unique postural problems. After a through
examination, your chiropractor might recommend orthotics to help
stabilize the feet, which helps level the pelvis, improve
balance, and restore postural stability.
Most group
benefits insurance plans pay for custom made orthotics.
You do not
need a referral to be tested for orthotics. However, you may
need a referral in order to receive re-imbursement for orthotics
from your insurance company. Call our office to book your
appointment for custom orthotics and/or foot scan and gait
analysis.
Custom made orthotics and
shoethotics (shoes with custom orthotics built-in) usually take
10 - 14 days to manufacture.
