What
conditions respond to massage therapy?
Massage
therapy can be used as a treatment for general muscular tension
or in conjunction with other injuries of the musculoskeletal
system.
What
would my first massage visit be like?
On
your first visit, your therapist will determine with you the
kind of techniques and treatment plan that suits your clinical
needs. Existing patients of the Clinic will have their massage
treatments coordinated between their doctor and massage
therapist.
Depending
on the areas of the body being treated, you will be advised on
the amount of exposure the therapist needs to provide the most
effective treatment. Your modesty will be respected at all times
and only the treated area will be exposed.
Your
massage will move from light to deeper pressure within your
comfort range. Any initial discomfort will gradually be replaced
by a more relaxed feeling. Communication is a key factor in the
effectiveness of a massage session. The massage therapist will
always try to accommodate you in terms comfort and warmth.
When
the massage is finished the feeling of deep relaxation will lead
to improved energy and vitality. Your massage therapist can also
recommend ways to prolong the benefits of your treatment and
suggest the frequency of follow-up visits.
Can
I see my chiropractor and massage therapist on the same visit?
Yes.
In fact, most chiropractic patients often prefer to combine
their spinal adjustments with a massage session. Coordinated
chiropractic, massage and exercise therapy is also recommended
where serious injuries have occurred, for example, following a
motor vehicle accident.
